Frank W. Ockenfels is an American photographer best known for his iconic portraits of celebrities and musicians. He has photographed some of the most recognizable faces in the world, including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, and Beyoncé.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1958, Frank was raised by his parents who were both professional photographers. From a young age he was exposed to the art of photography and developed a passion for it early on. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he studied photography and fine art. After graduating in 1980, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a professional photographer.
Frank quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after photographers in Hollywood. His work has been featured on magazine covers such as Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, GQ, and Esquire. He has also shot campaigns for major brands such as Nike, Apple, and Coca-Cola. His work is characterized by its bold colors and dramatic lighting which gives his images an unmistakable style that stands out from other photographers’ work.
In addition to his commercial work, Frank has also created several personal projects over the years which have been exhibited in galleries around the world. In 2017 he published a book titled “Frank W Ockenfels: A Life in Pictures” which showcases some of his most iconic images from throughout his career.
Throughout his career Frank has won numerous awards including two Lucie Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Portraiture (2008 & 2011) and two International Photography Awards (2009 & 2010). He continues to be one of the most sought-after photographers in Hollywood today and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
