Eric Traoré is a renowned photographer from Mali, West Africa. He was born in the small village of Kita in the Kayes region of Mali in 1975. He began his career as a photographer at the age of 15, when he was given his first camera by his father.

Traoré has since become one of the most celebrated photographers in Africa, with his work being featured in numerous international exhibitions and publications. His photographs capture the beauty and diversity of African culture, from traditional ceremonies to everyday life. He has also documented the effects of war and poverty on African communities.

In addition to his photography, Traoré is also an accomplished filmmaker and writer. His films have been shown at festivals around the world, including Cannes Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. His writing has been published in various magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times and The Guardian.

Traoré's work has earned him numerous awards, including a Prince Claus Award for Culture and Development (2009) and a Hasselblad Foundation Grant (2010). He is currently based in Bamako, Mali where he continues to document African life through photography, film and writing.
