Eric Elenbaas is a Dutch photographer and filmmaker based in Amsterdam. He has been working in the field of photography for over 20 years, and his work has been featured in numerous publications, exhibitions, and films.
Elenbaas was born in Amsterdam in 1975 and grew up surrounded by art and culture. His father was a painter, and his mother was a sculptor, so it's no surprise that he developed an interest in the visual arts at an early age. He began taking photographs as a teenager, and soon realized that this was his true passion.
In 1997, Elenbaas graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague with a degree in photography. After graduation, he moved to Amsterdam to pursue his career as a professional photographer. Over the years he has worked on various projects for magazines such as Vogue, GQ, Esquire, and Harper's Bazaar. He has also collaborated with fashion designers such as Viktor & Rolf and Jean Paul Gaultier on their campaigns.
Elenbaas' work is characterized by its strong sense of composition and use of light. His photographs often feature bold colors and dramatic lighting effects that create an atmosphere of mystery or drama. He is also known for his creative use of digital technology to create unique images that are both visually stunning and emotionally powerful.
In addition to his commercial work, Elenbaas has also directed several short films which have been screened at film festivals around the world. His most recent film project is called "The Last Day," which tells the story of a young man who discovers he only has one day left to live before he dies from cancer. The film won several awards at international film festivals including Best Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018.
Elenbaas continues to push boundaries with his photography and filmmaking projects today, creating works that are both visually stunning and emotionally powerful.
