Emre Ünal is a Turkish photographer and visual artist based in Istanbul. He is best known for his unique approach to photography, which combines traditional techniques with modern digital technology.
Born in Istanbul in 1982, Emre began his career as a photographer at the age of 18. After studying photography at the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts, he went on to work as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers. His work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Elle.
In addition to his commercial work, Emre has also developed an impressive portfolio of personal projects. His series “The Anatomy of Istanbul” explores the city’s hidden corners and forgotten places, while “The Anatomy of Nature” captures the beauty of Turkey’s natural landscapes. He has also created several short films that explore themes such as identity and belonging.
Emre has exhibited his work around the world, including at the Istanbul Modern Art Museum and the Venice Biennale. He has also been awarded numerous awards for his photography, including the Grand Prix at the International Photography Awards in 2014 and 2015.
