Emre Doğru is a Turkish photographer and visual artist based in Istanbul. He is best known for his work in fashion, portraiture, and documentary photography.
Doğru was born in Istanbul in 1988. He studied photography at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, graduating with a degree in photography and video art. After graduation, he began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and publications.
Doğru's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world, including the Istanbul Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and the New York Photo Festival. His photographs have also been published in several books, including "The Anatomy of Emre Doğru" (2014) and "The Art of Emre Doğru" (2016).
Doğru's work often focuses on themes of identity and belonging. He has traveled extensively throughout Turkey to document its diverse cultures and landscapes. His photographs capture moments of everyday life that are often overlooked or forgotten. Through his images, he seeks to create an intimate portrait of his homeland that speaks to its beauty and complexity.
Doğru's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Grand Prix at the International Photography Awards (IPA) in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, he was named one of PDN's 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch.
Doğru continues to live and work in Istanbul where he is currently working on a new series exploring themes of displacement and migration within Turkey's borders.
