Ekua King is a Ghanaian-born photographer and visual artist based in London. She is best known for her vibrant and powerful portraits of African women, which have been featured in publications such as Vogue, The Guardian, and The New York Times.

King was born in Accra, Ghana in 1985. She moved to London at the age of 18 to pursue a degree in photography at the University of Westminster. After graduating, she began working as a freelance photographer and quickly gained recognition for her unique style of portraiture. Her work has been exhibited in galleries around the world, including the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington D.C.

In addition to her photography work, King is also an active advocate for social justice issues related to race and gender equality. She has spoken at numerous events around the world on these topics, including TEDx Talks and the United Nations Women’s Conference.

King’s work has been widely praised for its ability to capture both beauty and strength within her subjects. Her photographs are often described as “powerful” and “inspiring”, with many noting that they have helped to redefine how African women are portrayed in media today.
