Dima Chyornyy is a Ukrainian photographer and visual artist based in Kyiv. He is best known for his unique style of photography, which combines elements of documentary, fashion, and fine art.
Chyornyy began his career as a photographer in the early 2000s, working with various magazines and publications in Ukraine. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Vogue Ukraine, GQ Ukraine, Esquire Ukraine, and Harper's Bazaar Ukraine. He has also collaborated with international brands such as Nike, Adidas, and Samsung.
In addition to his commercial work, Chyornyy has also developed a strong portfolio of personal projects. His series “The Other Side” explores the hidden beauty of everyday life in Kyiv while “The City” captures the city’s unique architecture and urban landscape. His most recent project “The Dreamers” focuses on the dreams and aspirations of young Ukrainians living in the city.
Chyornyy’s work has been exhibited internationally at galleries and museums including the Museum of Modern Art in Kyiv, The Photographers Gallery in London, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, and The National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. He has also received numerous awards for his photography including the International Photography Award (IPA) for Best Documentary Series (2015) and the Sony World Photography Award (2016).
Chyornyy continues to push boundaries with his photography by exploring new themes and techniques while staying true to his signature style.
