Dewey Nicks is an American photographer and director who has been capturing iconic images of celebrities, fashion, and beauty for over two decades. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, GQ, and many more.
Born in Los Angeles in 1971, Nicks grew up surrounded by art and creativity. His father was a professional photographer and his mother was an artist. From a young age he was exposed to the world of photography and developed a passion for it.
Nicks attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where he studied photography and film. After graduating in 1994 he began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and publications. His work quickly gained recognition for its unique style which combined classic portraiture with modern fashion photography.
Throughout his career Nicks has photographed some of the most famous faces in Hollywood including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Taylor Swift and many more. He has also directed music videos for artists such as Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake.
In addition to his work as a photographer and director Nicks is also an accomplished author having written several books on photography including “The Art of Seeing” (2005) and “The Art of Light” (2008). He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children where he continues to create stunning images that capture the beauty of life.
