Delphine Diallo is a French-Senegalese photographer, filmmaker, and visual artist based in Brooklyn, New York. She is best known for her vibrant and powerful portraits of people of color.
Diallo was born in Paris, France to Senegalese parents. She grew up between Senegal and France, and was exposed to art from a young age. Her father was an artist who taught her the basics of photography and encouraged her to pursue her creative passions.
Diallo attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris before moving to New York City in 2008. She began working as a freelance photographer for magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, and Elle while also pursuing her own personal projects.
In 2017, Diallo released her first book of photography titled “The Journey” which featured portraits of people from around the world. The book was well received by critics and won several awards including the International Photography Award for Best Book of the Year.
Diallo has since gone on to collaborate with major brands such as Nike, Apple Music, and Adidas on campaigns that celebrate diversity and inclusion. Her work has been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Brooklyn Museum in New York City and the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris.
In 2020 she released her second book titled “The Power” which features portraits of influential women from around the world including Michelle Obama, Serena Williams, Yara Shahidi, and more.
Diallo continues to use her art to challenge stereotypes about people of color while inspiring others to pursue their dreams no matter their background or circumstances.
