Debora Spanhol Ivankio is a Brazilian photographer and visual artist based in São Paulo. She has been working in the field of photography since the early 2000s, and her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications around the world.
Ivankio's work focuses on themes of identity, memory, and place. She often uses her own family as a source of inspiration, exploring the relationship between personal history and collective memory. Her photographs are characterized by their vivid colors and dreamlike atmosphere, which she achieves through a combination of digital manipulation and traditional darkroom techniques.
Ivankio has exhibited her work in galleries across Brazil, as well as in Europe, North America, and Asia. Her photographs have been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Vogue Italia, Elle Brazil, Marie Claire Brazil, GQ Brazil, and many others. In addition to her photographic practice, Ivankio also works as a professor at the University of São Paulo's School of Communication & Arts.
Ivankio's work has earned her numerous awards over the years including the International Photography Award (IPA) for Fine Art/Portrait category (2015), Latin American Fotografia Award (2016), Latin American Fotografia Award for Best Portfolio (2017), Latin American Fotografia Award for Best Series (2018), and more recently she was awarded the prestigious Hasselblad Masters Award (2020).
