Davis Factor is an American photographer and entrepreneur best known for his work in fashion, beauty, and celebrity photography. He is the co-founder of Smashbox Cosmetics, a makeup line created by his brother Dean and himself.
Born in Los Angeles, California in 1965, Davis Factor was raised in a family of photographers. His grandfather Max Factor Sr. was a renowned Hollywood makeup artist who founded the cosmetics company Max Factor & Co., while his father was a successful commercial photographer. From an early age, Davis was exposed to the world of photography and artistry.
At age 18, Davis began working as an assistant to his father at the family's photography studio. He quickly developed a passion for photography and soon began shooting for magazines such as Vogue, GQ, and Harper's Bazaar. His work has been featured on the covers of numerous publications including Elle Magazine and Marie Claire.
In 1996, Davis co-founded Smashbox Cosmetics with his brother Dean. The company quickly became one of the leading makeup brands in the industry with its innovative products and creative campaigns featuring top models such as Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. In addition to running Smashbox Cosmetics, Davis continues to pursue his passion for photography by shooting for various fashion magazines and advertising campaigns around the world.
Throughout his career, Davis has been recognized for his contributions to both fashion photography and cosmetics with awards such as the International Makeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. He has also been featured in several books about fashion photography including "The Art of Fashion Photography" (2009) by David Eustace and "Fashion Photography Now" (2011) by Charlotte Cotton.
Today, Davis continues to be an influential figure in both fashion photography and cosmetics with his work being featured on magazine covers around the world as well as on television commercials for Smashbox Cosmetics.
