David Seidner (1943-2013) was an American photographer known for his fashion and portrait photography. He was born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx. He attended the High School of Art and Design, where he developed an interest in photography.
Seidner began his career as a freelance photographer in the late 1960s, shooting for magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and GQ. His work was characterized by its bold use of color and light, often featuring models in dramatic poses. He also shot advertising campaigns for major brands such as Calvin Klein, Revlon, and Estée Lauder.
In the 1980s, Seidner began to focus more on portraiture, shooting celebrities such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Elizabeth Taylor. His portraits were often intimate and revealing; he sought to capture the essence of his subjects rather than simply creating a flattering image.
In addition to his commercial work, Seidner also created personal projects that explored themes of identity and mortality. His series "The Last Supper" featured photographs of elderly people eating alone at restaurants; it was exhibited at the International Center of Photography in New York City in 1992.
Seidner's work has been featured in numerous books and exhibitions around the world. He died in 2013 at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer.
