Chen Chi is a renowned Chinese photographer and artist who has been capturing the beauty of his homeland for over four decades. Born in Shanghai in 1949, Chen Chi was exposed to the art of photography at an early age, as his father was a professional photographer. After graduating from high school, he attended the Shanghai Institute of Art and Design, where he studied photography and painting.
In the 1970s, Chen Chi began to travel around China, taking photographs of its people and landscapes. His work was soon recognized by the Chinese government and he was invited to join the prestigious China Photographers Association. During this time, he also began to exhibit his work in galleries around the world.
In the 1980s, Chen Chi's work began to gain international recognition and he was invited to participate in numerous exhibitions in Europe and North America. He also published several books featuring his photographs of China's people and landscapes. In addition to his photographic work, Chen Chi also wrote several books on Chinese culture and history.
Throughout his career, Chen Chi has received numerous awards for his work including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Center for Photography in New York City in 2006. He continues to be an active photographer today, traveling around China capturing its beauty with his camera lens.
