Charles Ommanney is an award-winning photographer and photojournalist who has been capturing powerful images of people and places around the world for over 25 years. He has worked for some of the world’s leading publications, including National Geographic, The New York Times Magazine, Time, Newsweek, and The Sunday Times Magazine.
Born in London in 1965, Charles developed a passion for photography at an early age. He studied photography at the University of Westminster and then went on to work as a freelance photographer for various publications. His work has taken him to some of the most remote corners of the world, from war-torn Afghanistan to the icy Arctic Circle.
In addition to his editorial work, Charles has also produced several books including “The Unseen” (2005), “The Edge of Nowhere” (2008), and “The Long Road Home” (2012). His photographs have been exhibited in galleries around the world and he has won numerous awards including World Press Photo Awards in 2004 and 2005.
Charles is currently based in Washington D.C., where he continues to capture stunning images that tell stories about people and places around the globe.
