Carter Smith is an American photographer and filmmaker who has been working in the industry for over two decades. He is best known for his work in fashion, celebrity, and advertising photography.
Smith was born in Dallas, Texas in 1975. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he studied photography and film. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography.
Smith's career began with a series of fashion editorials for magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and GQ. His work quickly gained recognition from the fashion industry and he soon became one of the most sought-after photographers in the business.
In addition to his fashion work, Smith has also photographed celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston. He has also shot advertising campaigns for major brands such as Nike, Apple, and Coca-Cola. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, and Esquire.
In recent years Smith has branched out into filmmaking with his feature film debut "The Ruins" (2008).
