Barbara Probst is a German photographer known for her innovative approach to photography. She is best known for her series of photographs that explore the concept of multiple perspectives, which she calls "Exposures".
Born in Munich in 1964, Probst studied photography at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. After graduating in 1989, she moved to New York City and began working as a freelance photographer. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times Magazine, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar.
In 2000, Probst began her series of multiple-perspective photographs called "Exposures". In these works, she captures a single moment from multiple angles simultaneously. This technique allows her to explore the concept of time and space within a single image. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in the collections of major museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
In addition to her photographic work, Probst has also written several books on photography and art theory. She currently lives and works in Berlin.
