Axel Hoedt is a German photographer and visual artist based in Berlin. He is best known for his surreal and often unsettling images that explore the boundaries between reality and fantasy.
Hoedt was born in 1982 in Munich, Germany. He studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld, Germany, where he graduated with a degree in photography and media art. After graduating, he moved to Berlin to pursue his career as a photographer.
Hoedt's work has been featured in numerous publications including Vogue, GQ, Dazed & Confused, and The New York Times Magazine. His photographs have also been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Hoedt's work often features surreal elements such as distorted body parts or strange creatures that appear to be part human and part animal. He has said that his work is inspired by his own dreams and nightmares as well as by literature such as Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis.
In addition to his photography, Hoedt has also directed several short films including "The Dreamer" (2012) which won Best Short Film at the Berlin International Film Festival. He has also collaborated with fashion designers such as Alexander McQueen on campaigns for their collections.
