Anthony Seklaoui is a French-Lebanese photographer and visual artist based in Paris. He is known for his unique style of photography, which combines elements of documentary, fashion, and fine art.
Born in Beirut in 1983, Seklaoui was raised in a family of photographers and filmmakers. His father was a professional photographer and his mother was an amateur photographer. From an early age, Seklaoui was exposed to the world of photography and art. He began taking photographs at the age of 12 and soon developed a passion for the medium.
In 2003, Seklaoui moved to Paris to pursue his studies in photography at the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (ENSP). During this time he developed his own unique style of photography that combined elements of documentary, fashion, and fine art. After graduating from ENSP in 2007, he began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and publications.
Seklaoui has since become one of the most sought-after photographers in France. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world including at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, The Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) in London, The Louvre Abu Dhabi, and many more. He has also been commissioned by some of the world’s leading brands such as Nike, Adidas, Louis Vuitton, Dior Homme, Cartier and more.
Seklaoui’s work is characterized by its strong sense of composition and its ability to capture moments that are both intimate and powerful. His photographs often explore themes such as identity politics, gender roles, youth culture and urban life. Through his work he seeks to challenge traditional notions about beauty while also celebrating diversity and individuality.
