Annemarie Kuus is a Finnish photographer and visual artist based in Helsinki. She has been taking photographs since she was a child, and her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications around the world.
Kuus studied photography at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, graduating in 2006. Since then, she has worked as a freelance photographer for various magazines, newspapers, and advertising campaigns. Her work often focuses on themes of identity, memory, and nostalgia.
Kuus’s photographs have been exhibited in galleries across Europe, including the Finnish Museum of Photography in Helsinki and the Photographers’ Gallery in London. She has also had solo exhibitions at the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki and the Fotografiska Museum in Stockholm. Her work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Vogue Italia, and National Geographic.
In addition to her photographic practice, Kuus is also an active member of the Finnish art community. She is a founding member of the Helsinki-based photography collective “Kuvataideakatemia” (Academy of Visual Arts), which works to promote contemporary art practices through workshops and exhibitions. She is also a board member of “Kuvasto” (Finnish Association for Visual Arts), which works to support visual artists throughout Finland.
Kuus’s work continues to be exhibited internationally and her photographs are held in private collections around the world.
