Anja Boxhammer is a German photographer and visual artist based in Berlin. She is known for her unique and captivating images that explore the relationship between people and their environment.
Anja was born in Berlin in 1982, and has been interested in photography since she was a child. She studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld, Germany, where she graduated with a degree in photography and media art. After graduating, Anja began working as a freelance photographer, shooting for various magazines and newspapers.
In 2010, Anja released her first book of photographs titled “The City of Light” which featured her work from around the world. Since then she has released several other books including “The World Through My Eyes” (2012) and “The Human Condition” (2015). Her work has been exhibited internationally at galleries such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Anja's work often focuses on themes such as identity, memory, and belonging. She uses her camera to capture moments that are both intimate and universal. Her photographs are often described as dreamlike or surrealistic due to their use of light and color to create an atmosphere of mystery or nostalgia.
Anja continues to travel around the world capturing images that tell stories about people's lives and experiences. Her work has been featured in publications such as National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Vogue Italia, GQ Magazine, The Guardian Newspaper, Der Spiegel Magazine, among others.
