Alina Asmus is a Russian photographer and visual artist based in Moscow. She is best known for her unique and captivating photographs of everyday life in Russia.
Asmus was born in Moscow in 1988 and grew up surrounded by the city’s vibrant culture. From an early age, she was drawn to photography, taking pictures of her friends and family with her first camera at the age of 12. She went on to study photography at the Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia, where she developed her skills as a photographer.
After graduating from the school, Asmus began to focus on documentary photography, capturing everyday life in Russia through her lens. Her work has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and National Geographic. She has also exhibited her work at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Asmus’s work is characterized by its vivid colors and intimate portraits of everyday life in Russia. Her photographs capture moments that are often overlooked or forgotten, giving viewers a glimpse into a world that is rarely seen outside of Russia.
