Karl Lagerfeld gets a limited edition Barbie crafted in his image

Legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld is to have a limited edition toy crafted in his image to celebrate Barbie's 55th birthday this year.

According to WWD, Mattel is to launch the Lagerfeld Barbie Doll as part of their Barbie Collector series. Its a new incarnation of the iconic doll with a twist. Barbie will be dressed head-to-toe in a look based on the designer's well-known uniform, which includes a white collared shirt, a fitted black blazer, skinny pants, black sunglasses, Chanel-esque chain necklaces and fingerless driving gloves.



Global vice president of Barbie product design, Kim Culmone, said: "It's not everyday that Barbie dresses like the world's most famous fashion designer."

Meanwhile, Karl's pet cat, Choupette, was recently announced as the face of a Shu Uemura cosmetics campaign.
