French fashion house Nina Ricci has appointed Harris Reed as its new creative director.
The 26-year-old American British designer known for his gender-fluid identity and stunning designs will oversee both fashion and fragrance. He succeeds previous artistic directors Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter. The Dutch duo who departed in January this year were known for their Caribbean-inspired color palette and houndstooth patterns.
Reed will work closely with new Fashion and Fragrance Managing Director Edwin Bodson, who joined Nina Ricci earlier this year to replace Charlotte Tasset, now CEO of French womenswear brand Maje. Bodson was previously global commercial director at JW Anderson in London and has also held positions at Alexa Chung and Haider Ackermann.
A graduate from Central Saint Martins in 2020, Reed has worked with Harry Styles and Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele. He also launched his eponymous brand which presented its spring-summer 2023 collection last week during London Fashion Week. Other credits include a jewelry collaboration with Missoma, and his own line of scented candles.
'I am honored to be joining The House of Nina Ricci, with its treasure chest full of glamour, history and power ready to be explored. I am truly excited to challenge the landscape of what femininity means across Fashion and Beauty in such an iconic house,' Reed said in a company press release.
'Bold, daring, explosive: Harris Reed will bring up new perspectives on the archives and life-long craftsmanship of the House,' the Puig -owned fashion and fragrance brand said in an Instagram post.
'I am thrilled to be part of this new era and to welcome Harris Reed as Nina Ricci's new creative director. As a maverick stylist who rejects norms in a quest for freedom, Harris' singular vision of magnified femininity will extend to all of Nina Ricci,' Bodson said in a statement.
Harris Reed's first collection for Nina Ricci will be unveiled in early 2023.
