Model of the Week: Kelsey Soles

Each week, we take the time to highlight one of our favorite emerging models. Last week, we profiled German beauty Eva Staudinger and this week we're turning our attention to Kelsey Soles.

First discovered in Hopkins, South Carolina, where she grew up, Kelsey is one half of a true pair of model twins taking the fashion world by storm. Together with her sister Baylee the sibling duo (collectively known as The Soles Sisters) have scored runway shows with Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, and Vivienne Westwood as well as campaigns with Lanvin and Calvin Klein. In recent times a wave of sister duos are dominating fashion but the Soles sisters wear their biology with great eclat. Aside from striking symmetry is their real sense of sisterhood. Inseparable both professionally and personally the fraternal twins are fashion's fastest rising duo and are loved by the likes of all.

We caught up with Kelsey to talk about her career so far, her mystical twin connection and plans for the future.

Have you always wanted to be a model? If not, what did you want to be growing up?
No! I actually wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up or something with animals



How were you scouted?
We took a makeup class when we were 15 at a local mother agency when we were still growing and in an awkward phase. After all of our bad makeup came off she scouted my sister and I shortly after!



How would you describe yourself as a model in three words?
Confident, moldable, fun



Your first modeling job?
A Marc Jacobs special for Saks 5th Ave



What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about being a model?
That you can become so many different characters in an entire career. This job really allows you to try new looks, clothes, and makeup choices and it lets you develop into a really well-rounded person



What is your dream shoot/campaign?
Something with skincare or makeup! Probably a Maybelline campaign (: and then, of course, Victoria's Secret!



What's the best life advice you've ever received?
To appreciate every person you meet and never take anyone for granted! You never know when the assistant you had on a shoot will become the next big stylist etc! just be nice to everyone



How do you define success?
To be surrounded by people that you can trust, make you laugh, and to be able to live comfortably.



How do you stay in shape?
I run 8 miles every day as well as do Pilates most days! Nutrition is also super important to me.



What does fashion mean to you?
It means having the ability to rock your own personal style and be confident wearing what you want to wear.



In recent times a wave of sister duos are dominating fashion. You and your sister Baylee wear your biology with great eclat. Aside from striking symmetry is your real sense of sisterhood. How would you describe your relationship with each other?
Baylee and I have a really funny relationship. We bicker like an old married couple, but she is truly my best friend and we are inseparable. Its fun going through life and career with a partner in crime! (:



What were you like together as kids?
We were always causing trouble because we are very outspoken and say whatever we are thinking! We never gave our parents too much grief but with other authority we did.



With an intense career, how much do you get to spend with Baylee these days? When did you last see each other?
We live together and work together and work out together, so we see each other every single day.



Model success can sometimes feel quite lonely, right? Do you have any sister goals of working together?
The traveling gets super lonely especially if I have a job without her and I'm required to leave for a few days. I'm lucky that a lot of my larger campaigns were photographed with Baylee which made it that much funner (: We would love to do makeup campaign or even a swimwear campaign together!



Your favorite memory of each other?
When we were separated for a year, I had a huge casting in Paris that I flew to from Milan. Baylee was living in London at the time and surprised me in Paris!



What do you love most about Baylee? And your biggest pet peeve about her? Do you have a nickname for Baylee?
I love how outspoken she is and how quick she is to defend me! My biggest pet peeve about her is how she always likes things to be super clean and I take a bit longer to organize my stuff haha. My nickname for Baylee is 'Bean'



Imagine swapping lives with each other for a day. What will living in each other's shoes be like?
Probably really similar to mine except for the guys that each of us date hahaha



How would you describe your style?
Laid back, girly sometimes, Californiaish



What is your guilty pleasure?
Van Leeuwen Vegan ice cream!!



'Authenticity' is a word that's often tossed about when talking about social media. How do you define the term?
I would say its just the way you are yourself. I try to stay super true to myself on social media, with my posts I like to add a bit of humor!



What keeps you grounded?
My friends and my family.



If you had to be head to toe in one designer brand for the rest of your life, which would it be?
Nike or Stella McCartney!

Vintage or contemporary fashion?
Vintage!



If you were an emoji, which would you be and why?
The one with one eye closed and the tongue out!



What are some feminine qualities you admire?
We get to wear way better clothes than guys.



What's on your playlist right now?
A lot of Queen, SZA, Bryce Vine, Bulow



Describe a scenario that makes you feel absolute bliss
Being at the beach with all of my friends with a lot of margaritas!



When you're not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?
My sister and I DJ a lot in the city! Our name is SadBoiHour so that's been fun! I also just enjoy my city and make the most of living in such a cool city like New York.
