Model of the Week: Benedetta Casaluci

Each week, we take the time to highlight one of our favorite emerging models. Last week, we profiled German stunner Charlotte Nolting and this week we're turning our attention to Benedetta Casaluci.

You would never expect any model to get scouted while on holiday! It all started when the 25-year-old Turin native was spotted by an agent while on vacation in Ibiza with a friend and the rest, as they say, is history. Self-described as enterprising, passionate and ambitious, this lucky lady loves traveling and has appeared in a host of magazines and ad campaigns. Apart from modeling she also takes time out for herself, and is also passionate about music. There's no doubt that her career is on the come up and it's only inevitable that we'll be seeing more of her in seasons to come.

We caught up with Benedetta to talk about her career so far, her passion for modeling and her plans for the future.

Have you always wanted to be a model?

No.

If not, what did you want to be growing up?

I would have liked to work in the fashion industry as a PR or to organize events.

How were you scouted?

I was on vacation in Ibiza with a friend. Her agent saw my photos and invited me to Milan in September. After the first test, two important fashion agencies contacted me.

How would you describe yourself as a model in three words?

Enterprising, passionate and ambitious.

Your first modeling job?

My first modeling job was a lookbook for an Arabian brand, that we shot in Sardinia.

What is your favorite or most exciting aspect about being a model?

Traveling and learning to be independent and responsible.

Is there anyone that you admire as a role model and why?

I admire Giulia Manini because I know her story well. She is humble but determined and she owes her success to her willpower.

What's been your biggest OMG moment to date?

When I was selected for a photoshoot for "Marie Claire Italy" in India. It was a unique and unforgettable experience, one of my first editorials abroad from which I learned a lot of things that proved to be very useful.

What is your dream shoot/campaign?

Working for YSL.

Biggest lesson that modeling has taught you?

I am a shy and sometimes insecure person, but modeling has helped me to believe more in myself.

What's the best life advice you've ever received?

To believe in my abilities and work with determination to achieve my goals, without letting the judgment of other people get in the way.

How do you stay in shape?

I'm not a big gym lover, but I train twice a week. I usually walk a lot and I like taking Yoga or Pilates classes with my friends.

What do you think about fashion? What does it mean to you?

I think fashion is a form of art that helps to express oneself and brings people together. This work allows me to learn a lot of new things and there to constantly improve.

If you had the chance to work for a designer brand, whose collections you'd have to wear (from head to toe) for the rest of your life, which one would it be?

I would like to work for Armani because he is the only Italian designer who takes care personally of every aspect, from casting to productions. He is a stylist who still believes in the Made in Italy concept.

How would you describe your style?

As a model I have to know how to adapt to different styles, transitioning from a sensual and elegant style to an aggressive dark look or an extravagant one. In my free time, I prefer a simple, clean style, without make-up. I often wear jeans and t-shirts, that I sometimes maybe match with a pair of precious shoes.

Denim or leather?

Denim

Heels or flats?

Flats

Vintage or contemporary fashion?

When I attend events, I like to follow the trends and dress accordingly, but I also love buying vintage clothes, especially when I travel, and be able to mix them with my outfits.

What is your guilty pleasure?

The delicious Neapolitan pizza my boyfriend's mother makes.

What's been your most indulgent purchase since you became a model?

I like shopping, I can't deny it, but I prefer to save money for traveling. On my "wish list" there is though also a bag by Prada or Miu Miu.

If you were an emoji, which would you be and why?

I would be a smile because I always look at the bright side of things.

When you're not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?

When I can, I like to take a city break, go on long walks and find serenity in nature. In my free time, I go out with my friends, I go to art exhibitions to and the cinema, I read books, I listen to music.

What are you working on now and what do you dream of achieving in the future?

There a few possible work collaborations waiting for me back home. I hope everything goes well because I would also love to do a beauty campaign.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years' time?

I hope to have a family of my own, a few children and to be able to continue working in the fashion world, if not as a model maybe behind the scenes as a PR or producer.
