Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour receive Queen's New Year's Honours

Victoria Beckham and Anna Wintour have been named in The Queen's 'New Year's Honor List' for their services to Fashion.

Beckham will receive an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her humanitarian work and contributions to the fashion industry, while Wintour will be named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) for her ongoing services in the fashion/journalism industries and her help for emerging designers.

'Anna Wintour has been a tireless advocate for established and emerging designers. In the U.K. alone, she has promoted the careers of such talents as Sarah Burton, John Galliano, Christopher Bailey, Erdem Moralioglu and Christopher Kane,' said a spokesman for the Cabinet Office, the corporate headquarters of the British government.

This is Wintour's second honor, who was named Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE), in 2008. In addition to Beckham and Wintour, British Fashion accessories designer Anya Hindmarch will be named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of her services to fashion.

The 'New Year List' was established by King George V in 1917 to honor outstanding personalities in various fields. Wintour follows in the footsteps of women like Vivienne Westwood, Judith Dench, Maggie Smith, Zandra Rhodes and Natalie Massenet, while Beckham follows in the footsteps of her husband David Beckham, who had already been awarded the 'Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire' (OBE) back in 2003.
