French brand Vetements put on a show on Sunday at Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris showcasing its spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection.
Held at Famous Paris shopping mall Galeries Lafayette, the highly anticipated show featured a mammoth collaboration with 18 brands like Manolo Blahnik, Canada Goose, Juicy Couture, Levi's, Church's, Reebok, Dr. Martens, Mackintosh, Schott, Comme des Garcons and more.
The brand which is helmed by creative director Demna Gvasalia offered a new take on the designer/mass mashup game. According to Elle, the genius concept came about when Gvasalia couldn't put together a pair of jeans he felt looked 100 percent authentic.
'That's when I began thinking that the ideal situation would be to work with manufacturers who specialize in each category whether it's jeans, T-shirt, bomber jacket,' the designer said.
Vetements shook up Couture week by ditching the rule book and moving its collection earlier to show in the middle of the Haute Couture shows. Stand out pieces from the collection included Manolo Blahnik fuschia thigh high boots and an over-sized Canada Goose puffer jacket.
