Vestiaire Collective launches in the U.S.

If you've dreamt of someday owning the wardrobes of Hollywood’s A-list and fashion’s most influential then your wait is over. Vestiaire Collective, A Conde Naste backed initiative lauches in the U.S. starting November 6.

The online website was previously available in Europe for buying and selling pre-owned premium and designer clothing. Lauched in 2009 by a team of 6 founders (including Sebastien Fabre, CEO and Fanny Moizat) who recognised the need for an online platform that allowed people to buy and sell luxury pre-owned fashion, the company creates a unique environment where all items are authenticated and checked before reaching the buyer, thereby eradicating the risks of purchasing counterfeits, mis-selling or mis-pricing items.

Vestiaire Collective had received $30 million from investors including Condé Nast. In order to kickstart its launch in the U.S. the company is offering what it terms "StyleCycle" which is a curation of famous clothes, including Kim Kardashian West, Courtney Love, Cara Delevingne, and Hailee Steinfeld among 50 participants that will be auctioned.

"I am personally very excited to launch StyleCycle and celebrate Vestiaire Collective's fifth birthday with such a great mix of talented fashion insiders and style influencers," Vestiaire Collective co-founder Fanny Moizant told Vogue.com.

Items starts at $0 and increase as the competition heats up. Notable items include Caroline de Maigret's Chanel tote, Poppy Delevingne's Chanel tweed jacket and Emmanuelle Alt's Christopher Kane bag, to Kim Kardashian's Balenciaga dress, Charlotte Dellal's own Charlotte Olympia shoes and Cara Delevingne's Mulberry bag.

Through the auction, the site also hopes to remind shoppers that selling pieces that they no longer wear not only increases sustainability in fashion, but also generates revenue for that next must-have purchase.
