Fashion house The Row will be releasing its premier menswear collection this autumn.
The label which already has a women's and accessory line was founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and is not unfamiliar with designing menswear. In 2016, a small assortment of men's pieces was added in its Upper East Side and Los Angeles flagships while years ago the duo had launched a menswear capsule collection.
The decision to offer a menswear collection in addition to its women's line is an apt one given that the designers named the fashion house after an iconic London street, Savile Row, known for custom-made men's clothing.
The debut menswear collection has been described by the label as a combination of craftsmanship, special fabrics and detailed tailoring work with core pieces that should form the basis of a male wardrobe. One can expect the collection to comprise of tailored suits, denim, T-shirts shoes in the style of the eighties and nineties and of New York.
Above all, the pieces are carefully made in workshops in the countries that are known for their craft: the shirts are made in France, knitwear in Italy and T-shirts in the USA.
'The Row's womenswear began without doing any press during its conception, sold with select wholesale partners. It's important for us to do the research. We want to be able to offer the menswear market those same core foundation pieces at a luxury level,' Mary-Kate Olsen said in a statement.
'It was imperative that we received our customers' feedback and to approach this collection thoughtfully at our pace,' added Ashley Olsen.
The men's collection of The Row will be available worldwide from October, both in the boutiques and at selected retailers.
