French Designer Philippe Starck has made his foray into the fragrance industry with a trio of fragrances under his own label, Starck Paris.
Titled Peau de Soie, Peau de Pierre and Peau d'Ailleurs the three eau de toilette's were produced by the Spanish company Perfumes Y Diseno. Starck who conceived the bottle and packaging design based the scents on childhood memories of his mother's perfume shop.
'I loved to take refuge in [that] place,' he told Vogue Germany.
'Because of the aromas, the exponential sum of the perfumes, beauty creams, lotions and shampoos, I traveled through an uncharted territory filled with incredible riches. What I did not know at the time was that I was growing up inside the most powerful vehicle for the mind and the unconscious.'
Working alongside three master perfumers: Dominique Ropion, Annick Menardo and Daphne Bugey and his wife Starck created the scents which he claims contain molecules that have never been used before and took four years to develop. The bottle is minimal in design, with the front and back view completely different reflecting the mystery of the perfume it holds within. Together, the three fragrances form a puzzle.
Starck plans to release three more fragrances next year. The three eau de toilette's are available exclusively available from Neiman Marcus and is priced at $100 for 40ml and $150 for 90ml respectively.
