Model, actress, and environmental activist Carolyn Murphy and Los Angeles-based denim brand Mother have teamed up for a new environmentally minded capsule just in time for International Surfing Day.
Titled 'Surf's Up !' the 12-piece capsule features patchwork tapestry ponchos, Hawaiian shirts, snug ribbed knits, and a beach tote. Designed to be mixed, matched for beachy getaways. most of the items are made in Los Angeles using upcycled materials, repurposed vintage and dead-stock garments and textiles to reimagine beach essentials. Inspired by the 70s Hawaii and California surf culture, the collection is an ode to Carolyn's family ties to surfing.
The collection marks the second collaboration between Murphy and Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding of the denim brand who had teamed up last October on a 14-piece collection and donated 50,000 USD to the Sierra Club. It's also the third release of its 60 percent upcycled capsule as part of the denim brand's demonstrated commitment to environmental responsibility. This time 50,000 USD of the proceeds from the collaboration will be donated to the Save The Waves Coalition, to protect 1,000 surf spot ecosystems around the world by 2030.
