LVMH renames its fashion prize after Karl Lagerfeld



French luxury conglomerate Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH) is renaming its famous fashion prize after Karl Lagerfeld.

In an homage to the late designer, the LVMH Prize will now be referred to as the Karl Lagerfeld Prize. The prize will be awarded for the first time in Paris during the competition's 6th run this September. This years' jury includes Jonathan Anderson, Kris Van Assche, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Marc Jacobs, Claire Waight Keller, Humberto Leon, Carol Lim, Delphine Arnault, Jean-Paul Claverie, and Sidney Toledano. The 11 members will decide the winner.

'Karl Lagerfeld has been involved with the award since its launch in 2014,' Delphine Arnault, director and vice president of Louis Vuitton told WWD. 'He was involved with it from day one and transported everyone with his enthusiasm, energy and his passion for fashion. We will always cherish those valuable moments.'


This year around 1700 candidates from more than 100 countries participated of which only 8 finalists remain. The winner of the award will The winner of the Karl Lagerfeld Prize will be announced on September 4 in the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Whoever wins will receive 150,000 euros and training for a year by a team of LVMH professionals. Last years' winner was Rok Hwang of the Rokh label.
