French luxury brand Longchamp has reimagined its iconic Le Pliage bag in collaboration with Italian founders of Toiletpaper Magazine, Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari.
The artistically-fueled collection features five unique designs with whimsical images and motifs: a baguette, a French bulldog, Longchamp's sprinting horse logo, and a leather pipe. Inspired by the classic Gallic symbols and Longchamp's signature motifs, the capsule encompasses a travel bag, a handbag, a tote bag, a pouch, and accessories such as cowhide leather keychains and a branded silk ribbon in a bright and vivid colour palette of candy pink, sky blue and sunshine yellow.
'We were thrilled with the unique way Toiletpaper combines art, fashion and pop-culture references with a dose of humor. We thought their bold aesthetic and light-hearted approach to life matched Longchamp's colorful and optimistic vision of luxury,' said Sophie Delafontaine, Artistic Director Of Longchamp.
'We try to use the codes of the contemporary moment, which helps us to surprise people. We want to help them see what is surrounding them from a different perspective. For this collaboration with Longchamp, we wanted to play with the codes of French icons and the Maison so that they become alive again. Each image can be seen from multiple different points of view - there isn't just one message,' said co founder of Toiletpaper Pierpaolo Ferrari.
Le Pliage was created by Philippe Cassegrain in 1993 inspired by Japanese tradition and its art of paper folding, 'origami'. It's legendary and ingenious character makes it one of the most worn bags in the world.
Priced between 75 and 350 Euros, the Longchamp x Toiletpaper collection is available now in-stores and online alongside a limited-edition special issue of Toiletpaper Magazine.
