Lauryn Hill designs capsule collection for Woolrich

Lauryn Hill has teamed up with Woolrich for a limited edition capsule collection.

The American singer also not only made more than 30 sketches for the American heritage brand but also stars in the fashion campaign which was lensed by Jack Davison at West 175th Street in New York City's Washington Heights.

Titled Woolrich: American Soul since 1830, the campaign focuses on creative pioneers and their contribution to (American) culture. Hill appears in the images sporting the Woolrich classic Silverton Coat (which features a print of the cover of "Miseducation") and the Arctic Parka, which was first introduced in 1972 for pipeline workers in Alaska, that comes in a new Customized version with applications on shoulders and sleeves.

The campaign video accompanies the singer through the streets of Harlem and the legendary "Apollo Theater", where she exclusively performs her song "Ex-Factor" and shares her views on what "American Soul" means to her.

The launch of the capsule coincides with the 20th anniversary of Hill's first studio album, 'The Miseducation of Ms. Lauryn Hill,' which has sold over 17 million copies to date.

'The opportunity to work with Ms. Hill was the perfect start to our ongoing 'American Soul' project, highlighting Woolrich's American heritage,' said creative director Andrea Cane in a press release. 'We wanted Ms. Hill to bring her unique artistic eye to the product and DNA of the brand, so we invited her to put her own spin on these classic Woolrich styles.'

'We chose Ms. Hill as the first collaborator for 'Woolrich: American Soul since 1830' because her music is one of the most important cultural exports from America in the last 30 years,' said Framework creative director Brian Phillips in a statement. 'Ms. Hill's style, her creativity, and her words are lasting. She truly resonates with people of all ages, and this is a moment when all eyes are back on her.'

The collection is available now in all Woolrich stores and selected retailers in North America and Europe.
