Jake Gyllenhaal is the new face of Cartier

Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal is the new face of Cartier's iconic "Santos de Cartier" watch.

'Integrity, dedication and boundless curiosity: Jake Gyllenhaal embodies the Santos de Cartier man,' said the luxury label in a statement. 'A man who commits utterly and does nothing by halves. A man who defines fearless as honest and true to himself.'

In the first campaign picture for Cartier, the 37-year old actor and producer appears dressed in black and sitting on a stool, sporting a silver "Santos de Cartier" on his wrist.

The Santos de Cartier watch was created in 1904 by Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. The latest iteration of the timepiece features an interchangeable leather strap or bracelet and was unveiled in Geneva in January.

The new "Santos de Cartier" collection, comprises a total of 12 models in two sizes and will be available from 5 April 2018.
