H&M Teams Up With Sandra Mansour for High Street Collection

H&M has collaborated with Lebanese designer Sandra Mansour for a new collection. The collaboration marks the first time that the Swedish high street label has teamed up with an Arab Designer.

Titled Fleur du Soleil the new collection comprises of dresses, a caftan, a blazer, skirts, shirts, a t-shirt, and a hoodie adorned with dots, floral, and sunflower motifs. All of the pieces come in an earthy color palette of muted greys, ivory, and black and are true to Mansour's aesthetic and tradition.

The collection was inspired by the beauty of nature and female artists such as Toyen, Dorothea Tanning, Lena Leclercq, and Bibi Zoghe, as well as the sunflower, which represents the cycle of life, and its dependency on sun and light.

'The first things you notice about Sandra Mansour's designs are their dreamy qualities and sheer beauty, but then you get further drawn into the craftsmanship, the storytelling, and the modern youthfulness,' Maria Ostblom, Head of Design Womenswear at H&M said in a press release.

'The inspiration for the H&M collaboration was nature and natural elements. Especially the sunflower, which represents the cycle of life, and its dependency on sun and light. Poetry and painters inspired the selection of fabric - the dark laces, jacquards, and embroidered organza. With the Fleur du Soleil collection, I wanted to send women around the world a message of hope, something we all need right now,' said Mansour.

Over the years, H&M has collaborated with a slew of designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Moschino, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Alexander Wang, Balmain, Versace, - just to name a few with the most recent being Desmond & Dempsey, Johanna Ortiz and Giambattista Valli.

The Sandra Mansour x H&M collection will be available on August 6, 2020, at hm.com and in selected shops.
