Gucci has enlisted Faye Dunaway as the star of its latest campaign.
The 77-year-old actress and style icon was lensed by Petra Collins in Gucci looks whilst modeling the Sylvie bag. Inspired by 'the lifestyles of the rich and famous in Hollywood,' Dunaway plays a busy, successful Hollywood mother who has a special relationship with her daughter, played by French singer Soko. The duo fill their days shopping at Rodeo Drive, singing together at the piano, playing a game of tennis and lounging at the pool. In the end, the daughter gets her own Sylvie.
According to a Gucci Press release for the campaign, 'Dunaway spends her days being ferried around in a chauffeur-driven limo, signing autographs, shopping on Rodeo Drive, lounging poolside, playing tennis and living a life of luxurious leisure.'
Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele was enthralled by the lifestyle of the rich and their private swimming pools, tennis courts in the garden and swaying palm trees next to a driveway and decided to use it as the subject of the campaign. The campaign images are also reminiscent of the famous swimming pool photo of Dunaway that photographer Terry O'Neill took in 1977.
