Gucci expands its DIY service

Gucci has expanded its customization program, where one can add a personal touch to men's and women's knitwear, as well as women's outerwear and tailored pieces. Earlier, the Italian fashion house had introduced its 'Do It Yourself' personalization service, to the Ophidia tote bag and the Ace sneakers.

The new offering includes crewneck sweaters, shawl-collar bomber jackets, button-through cardigans in green, blue, red, and white, as well as women's made-to-order pieces. Large letters can be intarsia knitted on the garments with different placement of letters on crewnecks and on bombers at the back. The same is possible in biker style leather jackets with metal studs, rhinestones and colorful, hand-painted floral prints.

Available on Gucci.com and in a limited number of Gucci stores, customers will also have the option of using the in-store augmented reality app to see what their selected pieces might look like before customization.

To support the new initiative, Gucci asked six artists to reinterpret the DIY knitwear with a series of artworks that will be shared on Gucci's social media. The illustrators are Amber Vittoria, Angela Deane, Ashley Longshore, Brianda Stuart, Isabella Cotier and Marc Burkhardt.
