Gucci celebrates Ken Scott's legacy with new capsule collection

Italian luxury house Gucci has released an exclusive capsule collection that pays homage to late American fashion designer Ken Scott.

Reminiscent of the '60s and '70s, the capsule comprises of printed silk skirts, blouses, dresses, printed velvet jackets, cropped shirts as well as monogrammed tracksuits. Additionally there are Gucci signatures, such as the 'Jackie 1961', Marmont purse and 'Dionysus' handbags, Gucci Loafer and Princetown Slipper. Part of Gucci's Epilogue collection, all of the pieces feature Scott's colorful patterned fabrics of bright and electrified florals.

Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele was inspired by Scotts colorful, large-scale vivid fabrics and decided to revive them in partnership with Como-based fabric supplier Mantero and the Ken Scott Foundation. Known as the 'Fashion Gardener' Scott was born in Indiana in 1918 and studied at Parsons, New York. He eventually settled in Milan and established his brand, Falconetto while his clothes were beloved by stars of the time, including Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, Jackie Kennedy and Brigitte Bardot.

'Ken Scott was a really great creator of fabrics. He mapped out flowers with romanticism and flowers into pop culture. He treated flowers like shop signs, he multiplied them, turned them into something that stood out. I like his work because I am obsessed with floral prints,' said Michele in a statement.
