Italian luxury house Fendi has unveiled a Summer capsule by American designer March Jacobs.
Titled 'FENDI x Marc Jacobs' the collection is part of the Fendi Baguette's 25th-anniversary celebrations and pays tribute to New York city and the Baguette bag.
Jacobs stepped into the Fendi world and reinvented the iconic bag and other Fendi staples such as maxi jean skirts, denim jackets, cotton jersey Baguette hoodies, canvas cargo pants, Nano Baguette utility belt, jewelry, double sole Domino sneakers, cat-eye sunglasses and extravagant, gigantic, upcycled fur hats.
According to Fendi, the ready-to-wear collection echoes New York's 'Gilded Age' in shape and yet these are everyday items of today made into part of the mythology of the city with fantasy and reality coming into play.
Accompanying the release of the collection is a campaign lensed by Mario Sorrenti, featuring Kendall Jenner, Coi Leray, Sora Choi, Wali Deutsch, Valentine Alvarez, Anok Yai and Luke Lenski.
'In my opinion, Marc is the King of fashion in America. He is also a master of branding and experimentation, particularly with logos. Here, Marc has designed a Fendi collection - it is not a collaboration, rather it is an interpretation. In it, there is a sense of freedom in excess and joy, where he was allowed to do whatever he wanted,' said Kim Jones, Fendi's Artistic Director of Womenswear.
