Supermodel and Knot On My Planet (KOMP) Global Ambassador Doutzen Kroes has launched a limited edition Elephant Mini Bags in collaboration with fashion house Loewe.
The tan calfskin crossbody bag has a black, detachable shoulder strap, hand-painted black borders, white stitching and Loewe logo. It is adorned with handcrafted beadwork by women from the Samburu Trust of northern Kenya, a non-profit organization that offers people in need education, water, and health facilities. The Samburu women live among the elephants and are renowned for their skilled craftsmanship.
Proceeds of the bag sales will be donated to the Elephant Crisis Fund, in support of Knot On My Planet, which aims to stop poaching of elephants, thwart traffickers and end the demand for ivory.
'Our initiative is important to me because we may be the last generations to see our largest land mammals in the wild of Africa. After I visited them for the first time in Africa I knew I had to do something to help these gentle giants, to fight to secure a future for them. This has been one of the most important involvements I have had in my life as it has given me purpose and a reason to use my voice to make a real difference,' Kroes told Bergdorf Goodman.
'I am so proud of what our team has done and honored to have so much support from my friends and colleagues within the fashion industry. Together we have rallied brands and followers to raise $4.2 million in less than two years with 100% of those funds going to the best organizations on the ground to stop the killing of elephants for their Ivory through anti-poaching, anti-trafficking and demand reduction projects.'
The LOEWE x Knot On My Planet limited-edition Elephant Mini bags are available now in-store and online at loewe.com.
