Dolce & Gabbana is building an Italian Christmas market this year at Harrods in London. The timeless event was unveiled by Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce in an interview with Vogue.
From 2 November to 28 December, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce will have an Italian Christmas market inside luxury department store Harrods. There will be, of course, the obligatory tree outside the department store hung with gold ribbons and colored lights. The shop windows will be redesigned to resemble an Italian puppet theater, which will also have Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in puppet form, to introduce passers-by to the history of the fashion house.
On the fourth floor, will be an Italian space decorated with fairy lights. A variety of products will be on display at booths, many of which have been designed exclusively for the luxury department store, such as evening dresses with floral designs and sequins, Lurex stripes and Shantung silk suits as well as a ready-to-wear collection for children. Those looking for gifts will surely find something from a range of toys and perfumes, jewelry and shoes, handbags and other accessories. Dolce & Gabbana also hired a painter to personalize Sicily bags on-site.
'We inject a little bit of D&G into everything we do,' explained Gabbana to Vogue. 'Christmas to me is all about pine trees and the Nativity, friends, love and all things heartwarming. Now [we're bringing] all of that to Harrods.'
This is not the first time that Harrods has invited a label to deck their halls for the most festive of seasons. Last year, Burberry decorated Harrods' shop windows under the motto 'A very British fairy-tale', including exclusive products that were only available from Harrods. In 2015, this honor fell to Samsung.
