Dior unveils its new High Jewelry Gem Collection

French Maison Dior has unveiled its new Gem collection.

Titled 'Gem Dior' the collection comprises of seven watches and 11 pieces of fine contemporary jewelry directly inspired by nature. The word 'Gem' is a euphonious nod to 'J'aime' (meaning 'I love' in French) and the title was derived from the eponymous high jewelry collection launched two years ago.

The watch case has an irregular octagonal shape designed after the natural formations of rough tourmaline, while the asymmetrical and clasp-less bracelet is made of strata of ornamental gems (malachite, lapis lazuli, carnelian, pink opal, tiger's eye). Last but not least is the ensemble of color-coordinated jewels such as rings, bangles and earrings in yellow, pink and white gold, fully or semi-paved with diamonds.

Altogether, the collection is a contemporary symbiosis of Nature and Couture, and Monsieur Dior's love for the union of both.

'I designed a collection of watches and jewelry that's not figurative. The spirit of this collection is modern, it's a style that I would describe as abstract-organic, an organized disruption that turned out to be a true technical challenge for our ateliers,' explained Victoire de Castellane, Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie.
