Crows Nest Jewels creates Maleficent inspired collection

The much buzzed about film of the year, Maleficent, will hit theaters this week, and Disney has collaborated with the London-based fine jewelry company Crows Nest to produce a seven-piece collection which takes its inspiration from the motion picture's beloved titular villain, played by American actress Angelina Jolie.

The intricate collection, which embodies the dark allure of the Brothers Grimm-based fairy tale told from the antagonist's perspective, consists of contemporary and statement rings, bracelets and ear cuffs that feature key details such as fire, dragons, thorns and feathers.



"She's a dark character but with a beauty as well. I hope my interpretation of the character, that I tried to capture within the jewellery, reflects how other people feel too, dark but beautiful," designer Daniel Belevitch told Vogue. "Each piece is set in rhodium with black diamonds, featuring a pear-shaped onyx, which contrasts with the green tsavorite that has become signature for my core pieces."
