Chanel hosts a Family Reunion for its Spring 2021 show at Paris Couture Week

Chanel presented its Spring-Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection with a dazzling show held under the gigantic dome of the Grand Palais in Paris on January 26.

Creative director Virginie Viard hosted a family reunion with a short film and series of portraits lensed by Dutch filmmaker and photographer Anton Corbijn. Featuring ambassadors and friends of the House such as Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Vanessa Paradis, Alma Jodorowsky, Lily-Rose Depp, Izia Higelin, and Joana Preiss, the black and white portriats were taken at in the Haute Couture Salons at 31 rue Cambon in Paris and feature all of them dressed in Chanel couture looks from past seasons.

Due to the ongoing Pandemic restrictions Viard couldn't organize a big show, and came up with the idea of a small cortege, like a family celebration with the charm of a country wedding in the South of France. From Rebecca Longendyke, Kim Schell, Camille Hurel, Loli Bahia, Julia Pacha, and Luna Bijl, to Kiki Willems, Leelou Laridan, Madeleine Fischer, Malika Louback and Chai Maximus, all of the models who walked the catwalk offered a preview of the new Haute Couture collection. Featuring tulle, feathers, coats, dresses, trouser suits, blazers and Mary-Jane shoes, the new collection shows that freedom and movement easily go together with haute couture. Altogether, the show was like watching a fairytale wedding.

'I love big family reunions, when the generations all come together,'. It's so warm. There's this spirit at Chanel today. Because Chanel is also like a family,' said Viard.
