Daniel Lee's first campaign for Bottega Veneta has been unveiled.
The former Celine designer presents his new vision for the Italian brand with an early Spring/Summer 2019 campaign that was captured by Tyrone Lebon. Just as his debut collection was inspired by Italian women, the 32-year-old Brit revisits the brand's cultural heritage, inspired by Italy's neorealist cinema.
Shot on location on the Neapolitan island of Ischia the resulting images stars Kaya Wilkins and Saskia de Brauw sans exaggerated make-up or sumptuous over-the-top styling. De Brauw appears dressed in a black leather trench while Wilkins sports leather basketball shorts and a white tank top. Altogether, the images are hyperrealistic and present a refreshingly unpretentious vision for Bottega Veneta.
The collection includes notable pieces such as a finely knit tank top and a braided leather Maxi Cabat bag. According to Bottega Veneta, the campaign is a palate cleanser, a reset of its perception, a reestablishing of identity with the clothes and accessories becoming part of a whole - part of the context, part of life.
