Honoring the memory of the noted American fashion designer, The Art of Elysium, a Los Angeles-based non-profit charity organization that utilizes art, fashion design and music to help children with critical medical conditions, has unveiled a new award to celebrate emerging designers.
The newly created
L'Wren Scott Amber Award was also named after Amber, one of the first children to partake in an Art of Elysium fashion workshop, who fell victim to a brain tumor. The award recipients will have the opportunity to create their own capsule range of clothing, which will benefit the Elysium Collections, and also donate their time to help hospitalized children. The created fashion items will be sold through The Art of Elysium's website.
According to a spokesman for Scott's company, the family of the late designer, who committed suicide in her New York apartment home on March 17th, at the age of forty-nine, has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Art of Elysium in her memory. Additionally, talks are under way to find a retail partner for the awardees' collections.
