Shopping via Facebooks Family of three apps is now within reach.
During the annual F8 Developer Conference on April 30, the American online social media and social networking service announced that it will be rolling out new shopping feature for Instagram and Whatsapp as well as multiple platforms. Users will soon be able to view products, see celebrity recommendations, schedule delivery and make payments
According to Adam Mosseri head of Instagram, the future of online shopping depends on how influencers, video makers and brands interact.
'Maybe you look up to someone, maybe they dress well, maybe they have a similar skin tone and so the make-up that looks good on them will also look good on you,' he said.
'This is an area where we think we can uniquely create value.'
On Instagram, influencers can tag products in their posts, while users will be able to easily shop someone's look and buy those products directly in the app instead of the tags that lead to another website. On the other hand, when it comes to WhatsApp, users will be able to browse product catalogs and make secure payments, a feature that has already been successfully tested in India.
