Stella McCartney has released a collection inspired by The Beatles.
Titled 'All Together Now', the colorful collection is characterized by the psychedelic design idiosyncrasy of the 1970s (as seen in the animated film "Yellow Submarine"), and is an homage to her father's band. The film which released back on July 17, 1968, was recently re-screened for its 50th anniversary with hand-drawn pictures by the German artist Heinz Edelmann and was digitally reworked.
'I recently went to a screening with family and friends for the digital relaunch of Yellow Submarine, I hadn't seen it since I was young, and honestly, it blew my mind, the 47-year-old designer said.
'It affected me in a way I just wasn't expecting. Especially this idea of connecting people and bringing people together - politically this message has never been more relevant. So, I came out and I was like 'I have to do something.'
Covering the entire spectrum of women's, men's and children's fashion the collection consists of faux coats with colorful prints (inspired by the drawings of Heinz Edelmann), casual coats littered with Beatles patches, colorful shirts, and sweaters. All of the items prominently feature the words 'All you need is love' which is also the motto of the collection. McCartney used durable materials such as cotton jerseys, denim, recycled cashmere, econyl, recycled nylon, and durable viscose.
To coincide with the release of the collection a promo video has been released. Inspired by the imagery of "Yellow Submarine" four up-and-coming British musical stars perform the Beatles song "Yellow Submarine" in looks from the new collection.
The Stella McCartney 'All Together Now' collection is available in all Stella McCartney boutiques.
