Ralph Lauren to celebrate 50th anniversary at NYFW

Ralph Lauren will officially celebrate its 50th anniversary on September 7 during New York Fashion Week.

Details of the venue are yet to be revealed, but the event will combine Lauren's fashion show and a party similar to the show and garden party ten years ago for the iconic American fashion brand's 40th birthday.

Last week, the designer received the inaugural CFDA Members Salute by fellow American designers, including Thom Browne, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Jason Wu and Donna Karan during the CFDA awards to commemorate his incredible career. Revenues for the fourth-quarter flew past expectations with a net income of $42.3 million, in comparison to its loss of $204 million last year.

A Book titled 'WWD: Fifty Years of Ralph Lauren' was also released in partnership with WWD. The 192-page coffee table tome contains five decades of stories, photos, and illustrations from the publication's archive.

Lauren's career trajectory is praiseworthy. Born Ralph Rueben Lifshitz, in 1939, he was the son of Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants originally from Belarus. The legendary designer started the Ralph Lauren Corporation in 1967 with men's ties which was followed by a full menswear line in 1968 and thereafter continued to grow into an empire. Over the years the brand has become synonymous with the quintessential American lifestyle.

What better way to celebrate a milestone than at New York Fashion Week.
